School Productions

The focus of school productions is to expose and immerse students in the fine arts. The fine arts are part of the curriculum at Aquinas Academy to give an understanding, knowledge, and appreciation for what is beautiful.  This understanding affords a basis for judgment and discrimination which characterizes the free and wise man.

The objective of school productions are experiences to help form the moral imagination. In today's mass media, the student's imagination can be filled with what is predominantly violent, crass, sentimental and depersonalizing. Or it can have within it the lively, the noble, the truly human and the graced. Common experience tells us that our actions follow our imaginations. Therefore, it is necessary to train the young student in artful and more noble expressions.

Examples of previous school productions are:  Les MisΓ©rables, And Then There Were None, The Wizard of Oz,  The Sound of Music, Macbeth, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Harvey, The Scheme of the Driftless Shifter, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Gift of the Magi, Fiddler on the Roof, Sister Act, Merrily We Live etc. In addition, Aquinas hosts an annual Christmas Performance, Senior Play, Lenten Passion Play, Musical Review, St. Joseph's Talent Show, and St. John Bosco Video Festival.

Student Life

Activities are an integral part of the program of every good school.  They provide an opportunity for exploration in areas of interest outside the classroom.  In these activities, students are able to learn to express themselves, to share, to work together, to display their talents, to discipline themselves, to respect the rights of others, to work toward a common goal and to associate with each other.

Aquinas Academy offers a few programs to meet these objectives.  Religious, academic, cultural, social, and athletic activities are offered.  Student participation in co-curricular activities is highly encouraged.  However, it should be remembered that success is not measured by the number of activities in which a student participates, but rather by the quality of his/her participation in each.  It is hoped that every student will participate in at least one extracurricular activity and lend his/her support to all of them.  The sum total of this participation and support is the yardstick by which much of the school spirit is measured.

Athletics

Aquinas has earned 14 MIL Championship Titles in the last 14 Years!

"The activity of competition has an ethical-spiritual and religious dimension, among many other functions, such as the recreational, cultural, educational, and social, as it contributes to the development of human capacities, helping to appreciate life, that great gift of God.  At the same time, sports cannot become one more element of division between rich and poor, between strong and weak; the race for profits and victory cannot deprive sport of its moral values and the rights of children and youth."
